
The Academy of Economics is the organizer of the "Open Doors" event under the cross-border project "Green Region along the Blue Danube"
On 31 March 2026, the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics – Svishtov hosted an Open Doors Event in a hybrid format under the project “A Green Region along the Blue Danube” – GREEN-Hard, Contract No. 284856/12.12.2025, Project Identification Number: ROBG00071, financed under the Interreg VI-A Romania – Bulgaria Programme 2021–2027, Priority: Green Region. The event brought together the Lead Beneficiary (University of Craiova, Romania), the project partners (D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics – Svishtov and Engage in Education Association Romania), members of the academic community, experts, students, and stakeholders from the cross-border Lower Danube Region.
The event was officially opened by Assoc. Prof. Marin Marinov, PhD – Rector of the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics, who emphasized the importance of joint efforts for environmental protection, sustainable natural resource management, and the application of modern approaches to environmental data monitoring and analysis.
The Project Coordinator presented the main objectives and activities, focusing on the development of a system for monitoring air, water, and soil quality, as well as on the implementation of joint initiatives supporting the green transition in the region. Particular attention was given to the progress achieved so far and the upcoming activities. The importance of cross-border cooperation and the exchange of good practices was highlighted, alongside the project’s role in raising awareness and engagement of local communities on environmental and sustainability issues.
A key highlight of the event was the signing of a Partnership Agreement between the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics – Svishtov, represented by Assoc. Prof. Marin Marinov, PhD – Rector, and the State Forestry Enterprise – Svishtov, represented by Ms. Dilyana Choranova-Koeva – Director. This partnership lays the foundation for long-term cooperation both during and beyond the project’s implementation, aiming at sustainable natural resource management, knowledge exchange, and the development of joint initiatives for the benefit of the region.
The partners, Prof. Catalin Aurelian Rosculete, Prof. Dalia Mirela Simion, and Dr. Nicolae Daniel Militaru, emphasized the strategic importance of the project for the sustainable development of the cross-border region. They presented the financial framework, highlighting the efficient allocation of resources and the commitment to achieving the planned objectives. The current stage of implementation and the effective coordination among partners were also outlined. Special attention was given to the expected results, their long-term impact on environmental monitoring and regional cooperation, as well as to the significant added value of the project in fostering innovation, knowledge exchange, and sustainable practices.
The event concluded with a discussion and exchange of views among participants on topics related to the green transition and regional development.

We are delighted to invite you to attend the Open Doors Event for the Romania-Bulgaria cross-border project, “A green region along the blue Danube”, organized by the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics, Svishtov, Bulgaria. This event will announce the launch of the implementation activities of an initiative aimed at improving the protection and conservation of nature along the Danube, in the Romanian-Bulgarian cross-border area through complex actions: The establishment of a university botanical garden by the University of Craiova; The green arrangement of the university campus D.A. Tsenov Academy of Economics Svishtov, Bulgaria; Establishing a complex, cross-border monitoring network of air, water and soil quality along the Danube; Promoting sustainable development and biodiversity.
The Open Doors Event will take place on March 31, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., in hybrid format – in person at the Rectorate Hall, next to the main building of the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics Svishtov and online at the BigBlueButton platform (https://bbb.uni-svishtov.bg/b/hxw-ehz-ken).

The Academy of Economics, Svishtov, launches a project with the University of Craiova under the Interreg Romania-Bulgaria Program
The University of Craiova held a press conference dedicated to the launch and presentation of three projects funded by the European Union under the Interreg Romania-Bulgaria Program. Institutions and organisations in Romania and Bulgaria implement the grants in partnership. One of the projects is in partnership with the Dimitar A. Tsenov Academy of Economics. On this occasion, the rector of the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics, Assoc. Prof. Marin Marinov, PhD, also participated in the press conference.
The project "A green region along the blue Danube" (ROBG 00071), amounting to €2,533,544.66, is being implemented by the University of Craiova in collaboration with the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics and the NGO "Engage in Education". The aim of the project is to strengthen the green infrastructure along the Danube by creating a green zone at the Banu Mărăcine Educational and Experimental Station, as well as on the campus of the partner university in Bulgaria. In addition, a comprehensive cross-border network for monitoring air, water, and soil quality will be established, and the collected data will be managed by a Green Data Centre that will issue monthly newsletters. The initiative contributes to the protection of the Danube River and the promotion of a green transition based on data and institutional cooperation.
At the opening of the event, the rector of the host university, Prof. Cezar Ionut Spanu, PhD, stressed the importance of Romanian-Bulgarian cooperation: "This moment is not just an administrative act but an act of European commitment. It is a concrete expression of cross-border solidarity and proof that Europe is establishing itself every day through cooperation, trust, and shared responsibility."
