ISR's mission is to organize theoretical and practical scientific research in line with the scientific specialization and the role and place of the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics in the European and the national scientific and educational systems in order to support and develop its scientific function.


  • To implement the policy of the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics for integration in the European and the global scientific and educational process.
  • To look for opportunities to include the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics in specialized networks for development of joint research projects with national and international institutions.
  • To study and analyze economic processes and outline the trends for economic development on a microeconomic, macroeconomic and international level.
  • To support the scientific research conducted by members of the academic staff and stimulate their creativity and initiatives to create scientific products and pedagogical innovations.

 Structure and functions:

The organizational structure of the ISR includes:

  • Academic expert committee for organizing, conducting and reporting on tenders for research projects funded by the Ministry of Education.
  • Council of the editors-in-chief of periodicals published by the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics.
  • Council of the Scientific Secretaries of departments.
  • Sector "Theoretical and practical scientific research".
  • Sector "National and international projects".
  • Editorial Board of the "Scientific Research" almanac.
  • Temporary scientific research teams.

The managerial structure of the ISR includes:

  • Managing Board.
  • Director.

Main activities:

  • To co-ordinate the research activities of all structural units of the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics and organize the implementation of research projects and other scientific activities.
  • To initiate and conduct inter-disciplinary, inter-university and international scientific research.
  • To organize, implement and participate in national and international scientific forums in collaboration with the "International Cooperation and Projects" Centre.
  • To provide information, methodology and other scientific research resources.
  • To facilitate the educational process at the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics with scientific research products.
  • To control and analyze the implementation of the scientific research plans of the departments through the Electronic Registry of scientific publications and projects of the academic staff of the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics.
  • To summarize the scientific research activities in an annual report in the scientific research at the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics.
  • To publish the results of implemented scientific research projects in the annual "Scientific Research" almanac.
  • To disseminate the results of scientific research projects through:

a) the web page of the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics;
b) the Alma Mater academic newspaper;
c) local and regional media.

  • To initiate participation in international, national and academic projects.
  • To monitor and control the activities of the Academic Projects Development and Implementation Team (APDIT).
