The D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics Held an Open Doors Event under Project ROBG00251 Cross-Border Youth Safety and Inclusion (CBYSI)

On 20 November 2025, the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics – Svishtov, together with participants connected online via Zoom, hosted an Open Doors event under Project ROBG00251 Cross-Border Youth Safety and Inclusion: Modernizing Training Facilities and Developing a Comprehensive Good Practices Guide (CBYSI), funded by the Interreg VI-A Romania–Bulgaria Programme 2021–2027. The project is implemented with the Dolj County Police Inspectorate, Romania, as Lead Partner, the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics as Partner, and the Dolj County School Inspectorate as Associated Partner.
Assoc. Prof. Marin Marinov, PhD, Rector of the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics, welcomed the members of the Lead Partner, the Associated Partner, the team of the Academy, as well as the scientists, academic staff, students, and other stakeholders present in the hall. The Project Coordinator officially opened the event and emphasized that we live in a modern, digitally connected world, which enabled part of the participants to join online.
During the event, the main concept of the project was presented, emphasising the improvement of access to quality and inclusive education through the modernisation of training infrastructure, enhanced cross-border cooperation, and the development of joint training programmes. The discussion highlighted the importance of aligning educational outcomes with labour market needs, as well as the significance of youth safety, personal development, and social inclusion on both sides of the border.
The team of the Academy presented the progress achieved so far, including: preparation of documentation for the renovation of auditoriums 46, 51, and 52; initiation of procurement procedures for equipment; and the development of the project website and communication channels. Upcoming activities were also outlined, such as finalising the procurement procedures for renovation works, developing curricula and student selection methodology, and conducting a literature review for the Guide to Best Practices for Youth Safety and Conduct.
On behalf of the Lead Partner – Dolj County Police Inspectorate – the Romanian team presented key project implementation highlights. Expected results from the upcoming self-defence and safe driving trainings were outlined, as well as the importance of cross-border cooperation for strengthening youth safety and inclusion. Partners emphasised the added value of the joint approach and the long-term benefits for both communities.
Participants were introduced to the expected project results, including the training of a total of 240 young people in areas such as sustainable personal finance, green economy, corporate social responsibility, self-defence, and safe driving. The added value of the partnership and its long-lasting contribution to educational resilience and youth inclusion in the cross-border region were underlined.
