Fifth transnational meeting of the EMstep project in Maribor, Slovenia

The fifth transnational meeting within the project 2023-2-TR01-KA220-SCH-000170568, ‘Empowering Middle School Teachers for Social Inclusion through Observation-based Professional Development‘ was held in Maribor (Slovenia) from 21 to 23 April 2026. Representatives of all project partners attended it: the hosts from Academia, izobrazevanje in druge storitve d.o.o., D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics (Svishtov, Bulgaria), EGE University (Izmir, Türkiye), Oslo Metropolitan University (Oslo, Norway), Universidade do Porto (Porto, Portugal), and Me We Istituto di ricerca innovativa srl (Florence, Italy). The Academy was represented by Head Assist. Prof. Yuliyan Gospodinov, PhD - Project Manager for TAE and Researcher, and Assoc. Prof. Hristo Sirashki, PhD - Researcher.

The three days of the meeting were packed with an intensive work programme, which included several thematic sessions:
• Presentation of the project's achievements so far;
• Initial peer classroom observation progress;
• Teacher feedback of observation tools and tool revision;
• Qualitative analysis results of observation tools;
• Developing school-based professional learning plans (PLPs);
• Implementation of PLPs;
• Post-test quantitative data planning;
• Handbook of good PLP framework;
• Organizational issues of the upcoming international conference ‘Social Inclusion in Education through Digital Transformation’ (01.07.2026, Izmir, Turkey);
• Project dissemination activities.
According to the previously agreed agenda, each partner had certain topics to present, and all participants were actively involved in the subsequent discussions and deliberations. Head Assist. Prof. Yuliyan Gospodinov moderated the sessions ‘Teacher feedback of observation tools and tool revision’ and ‘Handbook of good PLP framework’.

The fifth transnational meeting ended with a visit to two local schools, a meeting with the principals and teachers, and observation of the work of educators with vulnerable pupils with different social needs and activities for their integration.
