Department of IER held its 29th Student Conference

On May 10, 2025, the Department of International Economic Relations at the Dimitar Tsenov Academy of Economics - Svishtov held its annual student scientific and practical conference in partnership with related departments from the University of Economics in Varna and the University of Ruse. The forum serves as a platform for students and doctoral candidates with an interest in the field of global economic problems and regional economic relations, where they can develop their abilities to discuss, formulate questions and answer them. With the participation in the scientific discussion of representatives from practice, alumni of the universities-organizers of the conference, the opportunity was given to present the latest empirical data and theoretical statements on international economic issues and to formulate ideas for future scientific developments.

The conference at the academy's training facility in the village of Oreshak, Troyan municipality, was opened by Assoc. Prof. Dragomir Iliev, PhD, Head of the Department of International Economic Relations at the Dimitar Tsenov Academy of Economics - Svishtov. Assoc. Prof. Georgi Marinov, PhD, Deputy Head of Department at the University of Economics - Varna, and Head Assoc. Prof. Daniela Ilieva, PhD from the Department of Economics and International Relations at the Angel Kanchev University of Ruse joined the official part with wishes for fruitful work and successful presentations. For another year, the participants' presentations were broadcast live in a virtual room on the BigBlueButton platform of the Academy of Economics.

Reports were presented in the six thematic areas of the forum - international investment, international tourism, global business, international integration and trade, people management and international marketing.
After preliminary anonymous review, 13 developments by 17 authors (13 students and 4 alumni in co-authorship with students) from 4 universities (Academy of Economics - Svishtov, University of Economics - Varna, University of Ruse, Sofia University) and 3 organizations (BATTI Association - Varna, NTZ Transport Bulgaria and Broker Ins Ltd.) were admitted to participation. Three of the presentations were in English, one of them by a student in the specialty "International Business" (in which the training is conducted in this language), and the other two - by doctoral students at the Academy of Economics from China and Palestine.
The scope of the research included various topics such as: factors for cross-border cooperation Kardzhali - Drama - Rhodopes in cultural tourism; management of relationships with suppliers in the global supply chain; innovation as a factor for the sustainability of international companies; vulnerabilities in cyberspace; management of organizational conflicts in the international company; application of Gestalt principles in the design of marketing campaigns, etc.
All authors received certificates of participation, and the most attractive presentations were awarded with diplomas.

The articles from the conference will be published in the open access electronic journal "Global and Regional Dimensions of International Economic Relations" (abbreviated GRDIER), published by the Tsenov Academy of Economics (in the section: Science/Publications/Publications of PhD students and students/), registered in the National Reference List of NACID: miojournal.uni-svishtov.bg.

The twenty-ninth student scientific and practical conference on the topic "Global and Regional Dimensions of International Economic Relations" is organized under the project NF1-2025, financed with funds from the state subsidy for the inherent scientific activity of the Tsenov Academy of Economics – Svishtov. The event is part of the scientific calendar of the Department of International Economic Relations for 2025.
