D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics Promotes Sustainable Mobility with a New Bicycle Parking Facility under the GREEN-Hard Project
As part of the implementation of the project “A Green Region along the Blue Danube” (GREEN-Hard, ROBG00071), funded under the Interreg VI-A Romania–Bulgaria Programme 2021–2027, the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics – Svishtov has taken another important step towards creating a more sustainable, modern, and environmentally responsible university campus. A new bicycle parking facility has now been completed and is available for students, academic staff, administrative staff, visitors, and the citizens of Svishtov.
The development of such infrastructure reflects the modern vision of higher education institutions and public organisations committed to sustainable development. Encouraging cycling is a well-established European practice that contributes to reducing carbon emissions, improving the quality of the urban environment, and promoting sustainable mobility. The new bicycle parking facility provides practical support for the wider use of environmentally friendly transport while encouraging healthier lifestyles and contributing to environmental protection.
Located next to the Kaleto Park, the bicycle parking facility offers convenient access not only to the university community but also to local residents and visitors who use the park for recreation, sports, and everyday activities. In this way, the Academy further strengthens its role as an open and socially responsible institution, actively supporting sustainable development and initiatives that benefit the local community.

The bicycle parking facility is part of the broader GREEN-Hard vision for developing a greener university environment and promoting good practices related to the green transition. The next stage of the project, planned for this autumn, includes extensive landscaping of the university campus through the planting of trees, ornamental vegetation, and new green areas. These investments will create an even more attractive, healthy, and sustainable environment for learning, research, and everyday campus life.
With each new investment implemented under the GREEN-Hard project, the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics – Svishtov continues to strengthen its long-term commitment to integrating the principles of sustainable development, green technologies, and European values into its educational and research activities. The Academy is confidently moving towards a future where innovation, environmental responsibility, and social engagement go hand in hand.
