22nd International Student Conference by the Department of International Economic Relations


The Department of International Economic Relations at the Dimitar Tsenov Academy of Economics – Svishtov organized and held a scientific and practical conference for students and PhD students in International Economic Relations.
The topic of the twenty-second edition of the annual scientific-practical conference was "Global and Regional Dimensions of the International Economic Relations". The event is part of the activities dedicated to the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Department.
For the fourth consecutive year, the scientific forum was organized together with the Department of International Economic Relations at the University - Varna and the Department of Economics at the "Angel Kanchev" University of Rousse.
The event took place from 27 to 29 April 2018 at the Academy’s training and recreation center "Prof. Minko Rusenov" in the village of Oreshak.
The conference was officially opened by Assoc. Prof. Galina Zaharieva, PhD, Head of the Department of International Economic Relations at the Svishtov’s Academy of Economics, who welcomed the participants, expressed satisfaction with the fruitful cooperation for the organization of this forum, and invited the participants to take part in the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the department and the scientific conference organized in connection with it. Assoc. Prof. Georgi Marinov, PhD, Head of the Department of International Economics at the University of Economics – Varna, and Head Assist. Daniela Ilieva, PhD, from the Department of Economics at Rousse University joined the congratulations and wished successful work for the participants.





During the conference, 12 papers were presented in four thematic areas: International Economic Crisis, International Integration and Trade, International Marketing, International Investment. Discussions were held in two sections.
Moderators of the first section were Assoc. Prof. Galina Zaharieva, Assoc. Prof. Vesselina Dimitrova, Assoc. Prof. Georgi Marinov, Assoc. Prof. Zdravko Lyubenov, Head Assistant Daniela Ilieva. The discussions in this panel affected the US protectionist policy, considering it as the beginning of a world trade war or a war with China; the state of the problem of trade constraints was debated; technical progress was presented as a prerequisite for employment or unemployment; direct investments were discussed as a factor for economic growth; the image of the region was commented as a key factor for attracting investments.





Moderators of the second section were Assoc. Prof. Dragomir Iliev, Head Assistant Alexander Shivarov, PhD, Head Assistant Simeon Momchev. This panel discussed topics related to the investment climate and Bulgaria's policy of attracting investments; trends, factors, forms of manifestation of international investment; the European labor market in Romania and problems affecting the digital economy.
The conference was attended by three Russian students from the Kazan Federal University and the Rostov State University of Economics, trainees of the Erasmus + Mobility Program at the Svishtov Academy of Economics.
All participants received certificates for their performance, presented by the representatives of the three departments.
