The institute for scientific research (1SR) is a strategic sub-system of "D. A. Tsenov" Academy of Economics.

The ISR strives to prove (paraphrasing V. Drumev's words of 1896) that our society needs its own economic science and without it, it is doomed to serve intellectually more developed societies.

An important objective of the scientific research at "D. A. Tsenov" is to offer solutions to problems in scientific spheres such as Economic Theory, Finance, Insurance and Social Security, Accounting, Controlling and Analysis, Management, Marketing, Trade, International Economic Relations, Informatics and Statistics, Business Mediation, Political and Social Sciences, etc.

The ISR guides projects, connected with finding solutions for developing various economic systems, especially at business organizations level, territorial systems like municipalities, districts and planned regions, cross-border cooperation, etc.

It publishes annually The Almanac of "D. A. Tsenov" Academy of Economics, which contains scientific papers mainly of lecturers at the Academy. They "feed" the study process with scientific news and maintain professional­ism through creating, and not only through teaching. Freedom of choosing an object and topic for research is respected in this process.

The scientific achievements of the lecturers at "D. A. Tsenov" Academy of Economics and of outstanding Bulgarian and foreign scientists are published in the periodi­cals of the Academy: "The Economic Archive" magazine, "The Business Management" magazine, "D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economies' Annual Book", "The Economic World", Economic Research (a joint edition with the Economic Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Economics University in Varna), "The Academic Heritage" fund, "The Dialogue" electronic magazine (www.uni-svishtov.bg/dialog).

The ISR works with foreign scientists realizing joint European projects.
