College Of Economics And Management The College of Economics and Management Svishtov has been within the structure of "D. A. Tsenov" Academy of Economics under the terms of Decree #16 of the Council of Ministers of 27th January 1997 (State Gazette 10/4.02.1997). It is the only state college within the structure of a higher school training students in the trends "Economics" and "Management and Administration", with seven specialties: "Accounting and Control", "Finance", "Insurance and Social Security", "Economy of Trade", "Agrarian Economy", "Public Administration" and "Economic Management". The course of study, full-time or part-time, is 3 academic years. The College graduates get a diploma for higher education and a "Specialist" qualification degree, with a possibility to continue their education in the next Bachelor's Degree. The College of Economics and Management received an institutional accreditation within the structure of the higher school according to a decision of the National Agency for Assessment and Accreditation at the Council of Ministers. Specialty "Accounting and Controlling" The training in this specialty enables graduates to carry out the important functions of "accounting" and "controlling" in the management of financial and non-financial enterprises of the national economy. The educational process harmonizes with the operative National Accountancy and Commercial Legislation based on the Directives of the European Community and the International Accounting Standards. It provides knowledge in the fields of economics, finance, management, economic accounting and controlling over activities within an enterprise, as well as practical skills in accounting and controlling. Specialty "Finance" The specialty "Finance" trains specialists for all units of the national financial and credit system. The possibilities for realization are in the executive offices of the Ministry of Finance, financial departments in the municipalities, territo rial tax offices, tax police, managerial structures of departments and offices of banks, funds, stock exchanges and financial markets. Specialty "Insurance and Social Security" This specialty offers qualification for carrying out various activities (organizational and technical, research, accounting, prognosticating and planning, controlling, efficiency, etc.) in the system of insurance and social security. The graduates can work in all insurance companies, public and private labour markets, mutual insurance funds, companies and cooperations as economists, inspectors, statisticians, accountants, actuaries, customs officers, financial auditors, information people, etc. Specialty "Economy of Trade" This specialty offers functional and special training in the fields of supply, sales, advertising, entrepreneurship, stock exchange, real estate mediation, goods and services. The curriculum includes language, computer, legal and practical training. At the final stage of education the students have the possibility to prepare and carry out concrete trade deals. Specialty "Agrarian Economy" The students in this specialty acquire professional training in organizational, managerial and production technologies in agriculture. The main requirement of the training is to provide good knowledge of the principles of the market economy, the forms of competition and their reflection on the behaviour of the economic units, the factors of production and the mechanisms of their price forming, the methods for market research, the credit policy, economic-mathematical and statistical methods of research and analysis of agricultural activity and social practice. Specialty "Public Administration" The students in this specialty are trained for an executive and managerial career at a municipal level. They acquire specialized and professional training in the field of management, national and local administration, local government, human resources management, territorial planning and regulation of economy, communications and public relations. Specialty "Economic Management" The course moulds specialists trained in economics and management for work in all branches and activities of the national economy, in the public, private and cooperative sector as line managers, specialists in all functional units of the management structure, as well as consultants in the sphere of small and medium business, members of teams for diagnosing and improving management systems, and teams for preparing negotiations. There is a library functioning in the College with 1000 volumes of books and 9816 textbooks, the recent scientific and educational literature and reference materials for the training of students, 42 newspapers and 112 magazines, which contain reviews mainly in the fields of economics, agriculture, labour and law, accounting, finance, stenography, philosophy, computers, banking, sociology, etc. The College of Economics and Management offers highly qualified professional train i ng in competitive specialties. The classes are held in a modern detached building, with a gym, language and computer halls.
